A visit to Silves and Monchique encompasses history, culture and breath-taking landscapes. 

Visit the lovely town of Silves, a medieval town among citrus groves and vineyards. Silves was the first Arab capital of the Kingdom of the Algarve, there you will start a walking guided tour to visit the Castle of Silves (entrance fee not included) which is a castle from the Moorish era and It is the most famous landmark of Silves attracting many tourists and visitors each year. The castle was built between the 8th and 13th century and has been restored in the 20th century. It is the best preserved castle in the Algarve. and the cathedral called Sé de Silves. It was built in the 13th century on the site of a mosque. It was heavily damaged by the earthquake of 1755, but since then it has been rebuilt. Nowadays, this cathedral is considered by many to be the most important Gothic building in the Algarve. Continue our way through the Monchique mountains to visit Monchique village and then up to Fóia, the highest point in the Algarve, with 902 meters of height, where you will be able to gain a breathtaking 360º view of the entire area. Opportunity to taste the medronho (fire water) one of the typical liqueurs of the region.
